Logical Minds Sponsors Yorkshire’s 42 Under 42 Awards

March 2007

Logical Minds continued its association with top Yorkshire entrepreneurs this year by sponsoring the drinks reception at the 42 Under 42 Awards Dinner this March.

Held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, the event showcased stellar-performance Yorkshire entrepreneurs, whose innovation and drive has led them to dramatic business success before the age of 42.

Logical Minds Director, David Weaver, first learned of the entrepreneur awards when he was made an awards finalist in 2006 for developing an on-demand project process solutions company by the age of 34. In only 4 years of setting up Logical Minds, David had already won top regional and blue chip clients such as the Co-op Pharmacy Group, York Racecourse and Screen Yorkshire.

David’s finalist status reflects the significant improvements that his project process solutions are making to Yorkshire businesses, such as Hamilton Park Racecourse, which has seen ticket sales increase by 30% and JCT600, which has experienced a 20% increase in car sales.

David says: “I was very honoured to have been chosen as a finalist last year and I was very enthusiastic about helping to sponsor the 42 Under 42 Awards in 2007. It’s great to see an awards event that celebrates and encourages entrepreneurship in 20 to 40 year olds across Yorkshire.  This year’s winners were extremely high calibre and showed that Yorkshire really is a powerhouse of young and innovative entrepreneurs”.

This year’s winners included Tom Allchurch, Chief Executive of open-cast mining company ATH Resources, who won the overall Entrepreneur of the Year Award for leading a company that had become the third largest coal producer in the UK with a turnover of £54 million.

Rahul Mehra won the entrepreneur award for Best Innovation for his company Red Embedded, which produced the software behind BT’s Total Broadband product, whilst the award for Best International Business went to Gavin Wheeldon, Chief Executive of Huddersfield-based translations agency Applied Language Solutions.

Stephanie France of Space2Work won the Best Start-Up entrepreneur award for her office interiors company and Joanne Williams, Development Director of Malton-based Redwood Construction won the Best Practitioner Award.

David says: “The 42 Under 42 Awards are a great event for any young entrepreneur to consider.  Last year, one of our clients, Myfotowall, was the overall winner and we certainly found being a finalist was very positive PR for Logical Minds and its project process solutions.  In the end, it’s about peer recognition for the incredible enthusiasm, dedication and drive shown by Yorkshire’s top young entrepreneurs”.
